I am a visual learner. I loved working with flashcards. The answer was right there. The pile of cards growing higher and higher represented me getting smarter. I didn’t have to sit still. It was a game. I still love learning through games.
I was looking for a way to create a game using flashcards. I watched many coding videos, but even the easiest ones were quite intimidating. Then I discovered the lovable apps. I liked the result.
I was able to add my own content and images. I could insert my own voice, which my students love! “Is that you, Madame?”
For the classroom teacher, I included features that were important to me:
A real-time list of students who are succeeding or might need a check-in.
A simple sign-in for students. A static webpage I can link to in my Learning Portal. A class code and PIN numbers that my little ones can start learning with.
No additional advertisements on the page.
A way to increase or decrease the amount of content available to students. The games are built alike, so once the little ones learn the first game, they can build vocabulary without fussing over new games.
For the kids:
- Game based learning is always a win!
- Vocabulary lists that help a student in a second language classroom have real conversations about real topics.
- a clean interface that is free of pitfalls and distractions.
